Jonathan Rhys Meyers siblings: Meet Ali O’Keefe & Jamie O’Keeffe

A model, musician, and actor from Ireland, Jonathan Rhys Meyers was born on July 27, 1977. His first acting appearance was in the 1994 movie A Man of No Importance. Rhys Meyers adopted the name because he thought his own name, O’Keeffe, was dull.

He played the Anti-Treaty IRA sniper who assassinated Michael Collins in 1996’s Michael Collins. In the 1998 movie Velvet Goldmine, he portrayed a David Bowie-inspired glam rock star. As the psychotic Bushwhacker Pitt Mackeson in Ride with the Devil and as the sadistic Goth prince Chiron in Titus, he made appearances in 1999.

In Bend It Like Beckham (2002), he played a passionate girls’ football coach; in Vanity Fair (2004), he costarred with Reese Witherspoon; and he played Steerpike in the BBC’s Gormenghast (2000).
