Tyreke Jamir Evans was born in Chester Pennsylvania, on the 19th of September, 1989, to John and Benita Evans. He has 3 brothers – James, also known as Reggie Evans, Julius Evans, and Dion Evans; they were majorly the early influence he had growing up, as they practically parented him. He is an African-American.
He had his high education in American Christian Academy in Aston and signed up in their basketball team, putting up an impressive performance that earned him various awards such as; The MVP of the Mc Donald High Scool All-American Game, Co- MVP with Brandon Jennings at the Jordan Brand Classic Games, First TeamParade All-American among other recognitions in the game of basketball nationally.
In his high school senior year, he racked up 8.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 32.1 points, as well as 4.3, steals; to earn the 6th position rating nationally and 3rd position guard pointer.
He proceeded to the University of Memphis on a sports scholarship to study and play basketball which he picked out of a lot of the offers he got. He initially, had a rough start with the team as he could not fit in nicely as a small forward until he was played as a starting point guard by his team coach John Calipari and the team went on to win their 11th game against the Cincinnati with 60-45 score with Tyreke Evans scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists.

On 31st March 2009, Tyreke Evans made the NBA draft and was drafted with the 4th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings. In his Rookie year, he recorded an average 18.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, 1.3 steals. He also scored 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists per game and 5 steals on 11/15 shootings in his second season. These records earned him the 2009 Conference Rookie of the year, Western Conference Rookie of the month of January 2010, the 2010 NBA Rookie player and NBA First Team player. He plied his trade for 4 years, accumulating a total record of 19.1 rebounds per game and 19.4 assists per game in the 257 games played.
He proceeded to record his first career triple-double in March, 2010 in the team’s win against the Raptors of Toronto; he grabbed the record of 19 points, 10 rebounds per game and 10 assists thus, becoming the 4th player in the history of the NBA to average 20 points with 5 rebounds and assists respectively in the same year along with great players like; Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James.
In July 2013, he was bought over by the New Orleans Pelicans along with other players like Robin Lopez, and Greivis Vasquez. He immediately, got into the game with his new team, clinching the winning shot in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers and scored 41 points in their 101-89 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in April 2014.
He later led the Pelicans, to a 101-95 win over his former club – Sacramento Kings in April 2015, grabbing 19 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists per game. He was ruled out of about 17 games in the remaining 2015 and a part of 2016 seasons after he sustained a severe knee injury that required a surgical procedure to correct. He soon bounced back and made impressive records in the game against the Washington Wizards in December 2015, winning it with a score of 105 – 103.
Again, Tyreke Evans sustained yet another knee injury in February 2016, that saw him go under the blade a second time and he was subsequently put out of the games in the 2016 season. After full recovery in January 2017, he again, made another high score of 29 points in the game against the Brooklyn Nets in the 104-95 win, wrapping up his productive stay with the Pelicans.
The super talented NBA player later found himself traded along with Buddy Hield and Langston Galloway during the round 1 2017 NBA Draft pick and exchange program. Consequently, he went back to the Sacramento Kings where he spent another one year. In his first game that year and season, Tyreke Evans grabbed a 15 points average in the win over the Denver Nuggets in 116-100. He later recorded yet another season-high score of 29 points in the March 2017 game against San Antonio which his team lost. By July 2017 he was on the move again out to another team.
He signed with Memphis Grizzlies in July 2017 and by November, during the team’s game against the Orlando Magic, he scored 32 points though they lost the game in a score of 101-99. He repeated his 30 points feat in the game he started in December 2017, racking up an average 32 points in all with 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the game against Los Angeles Lakers in the score of 109-99. He broke the previously held franchise record by Mike Miller and later got hit heavily on his rib in February 2018. The injury was incurred during the game against Cleveland Cavaliers in which he grabbed 15 points, 10 assists and won the game but ended up with cartilage damage to his rib cages. This injury saw him off 10 games as he was on the pathway of recovery.
In July 2018, he signed up with the Indiana Pacers where he is currently plying his trade.
